North Coast Brewing CO.

Since 1988

A pioneer in the Craft Beer movement, North Coast Brewing Company opened in 1988 as a local brewpub in the historic town of Fort Bragg, located on California’s Mendocino Coast.

Under the leadership of Brewmaster Mark Ruedrich, the brewery has developed a strong reputation for quality having won more than 70 awards in national and international competitions.

In addition to Red Seal Ale, Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, Scrimshaw Pilsner, and other fine North Coast brands, the brewery has resurrected the old Acme label with a heritage dating back to the San Francisco of the 1860s.

These exceptional beers are available in 47 states now and also are exported to Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Saturday, August 29th, Jon Mayer in one performance (7:30 pm - seating begins at 6:30 pm) at the North Coast Brewing Company Taproom's Jazz at the Sequoia Room.

Jon Mayer not John Mayer. This particular Mayer is a Jazz pianist currently living on the West Coast who has been plying his Jazz trade in one form or another since the mid-1950s. Early on, Mayer played on two notable sessions: alto saxophonist Jackie McLean's Strange Blues (Prestige, 1957) and on the John Coltrane sessions recorded between 1958 and 1960 that eventually became Like Sonny (Roulette, 1990). Mayer did a stretch in Paris in the late '50s where he periodically supported Chet Baker during his expatriate period.

Congratulations to everyone who made “Pop the Cap” such a successful campaign and helped turn North Carolina into one of the savviest beer places in America.

"In February 2003, a motely group of thirty-five beer lovers gathered to discuss one issue: how to lift North Carolina's 6% alcohol by volume (ABV) cap on beer.  For seventy years, North Caroina had imposed a 6% ABV restriction on beer sold and brewed within the state.

On August 13, 2005, Governor Mike Easley signed House Bill 392into law, lifting the 6% ABV cap to a more reasonable 15%. We called. We wrote.  We conquered!"  North Coast Brewing Company is very proud to have been part of the grass roots effort, bringing great Craft Beers to No. Carolina!  Read More
